Wood Burning Sauna

There are no codes or regulations specifically dealing with wood burning sauna heaters. Before installing the heater you should check with local municipal officials to see if they have any guidelines they want adhered to. Then have them inspect and approve the installation before you use the sauna.

The following installation information is to be used as a guideline only. Please consult the relevant authorities for rules and regulations regarding your wood burning sauna installation:

1. Sauna heater should be installed on a non-combustible surface; i.e. concrete pad.
2. Set heater in place then brick around the feed neck. The brick should be at least 4’ wide by 4’ high.
3. The heater should be no closer than 18" to any combustible surface.
4. Use a 6" stove pipe and squeeze to fit over outlet at top of stove.
5. Install a damper in the stovepipe.
6. Use double insulated stovepipe where it passes through the wall or ceiling.
